Can one desire too much of a good thing? Not if one is a Babel subscriber!
Issue 7, on its way to our subscribers soon, pays tribute to William Shakespeare to mark the 450th anniversary of the Bard's birth. Our new issue will be a dish fit for the gods, with features on Shakespeare's life and writing by our very own Linguistic Consultant, Prof David Crystal, who discusses how Shakespeare's works sounded in their original pronunciation, and Keith Johnson, who investigates just what Flute meant when he addressed Bottom as 'sweet bully Bottom'.
There will also be all the regular features, including a Shakespeare-themed Ask a Linguist and a colourful look at Shakespeare's linguistic inventiveness in our language pull-out.
Aside from Shakespeare, you can expect articles on the language of television and the linguistics wars(!). We look forward to sending Issue 7 your way soon!
The print edition will be delivered to subscribers the week starting 12th May, with digital subscribers receiving access to the latest magazine.
